This story is about loss, resilience, and the slow, painful journey toward healing. When a dark force rips everything away from the heroine—her loved ones, her safety, and the life she once knew—she vows to become stronger and protect herself from a world that betrayed her. At the heart of the chaos is a prince—striking, enigmatic, and burdened by his own fate. With hair as dark as ebony and skin pale as snow, he becomes someone she never expected: someone she must save. As their lives become tangled by destiny, the story shifts into a tale of survival, trust, and the fragile hope that healing the heart might be the key to saving more than just themselves.
I was immediately intrigued by this book when it was first introduced, particularly by the concept of a flipped fairytale. The idea of turning traditional storytelling on its head was refreshing—and it absolutely delivered. What captivated me most was the author’s descriptive writing style, which brings every scene vividly to life. From the very first pages, the narrative draws you in—especially with the unexpected twist involving the mysterious boy in the barn tending to horses. Spoiler alert: he’s not quite who he seems.
Raelynn and her sisters were a delight to read about. Their bond is beautifully written, showcasing the strength and depth of sisterhood. While I personally found the Prince to be a bit too love-struck for my taste, it didn’t detract from the story’s charm—after all, this is Raelynn’s tale, not his. The shift in perspective was both refreshing and empowering.
This book took my imagination for a spin in the best way—it was pure magic from beginning to end. I highly recommend this story to fans of fairytales with a twist. As the narrative centers on a strong female lead, it may resonate more with women readers, though I believe there’s something here for everyone.
